Antique French Art Nouveau Silver Vesta Case – Dragonfly & Floral Decoration – c. 1890–1910 A beautiful and finely decorated antique French silver vesta case (match safe) dating from the Art Nouveau period, circa 1890–1910. This elegant little case is a wonderful example of the decorative craftsmanship associated with the French Belle Époque. Decoration & Design The front features a charming dragonfly in flight above a pond, surrounded by delicate aquatic plants, water lilies and flowing floral motifs. The decoration is executed in beautifully detailed relief, with the graceful, organic lines so characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement.
