Antique Brass Wall Oil Lamp "Candil de Lucena" - Spain, late 19th / early 20th century Description An elegant and complete antique Spanish wall-mounted brass oil lamp, traditionally known as a "Candil de Lucena" or "Candil de Castillo." Originating from Spain—where it was recently acquired from an authentic local antiques market—this piece is a classic example of traditional Andalusian metalcraft. The city of Lucena was historically famous for producing these beautiful, architectural brass lamps used in estates, castles, and traditional country homes throughout the 19th century. This particular specimen is 100% complete, featuring all its original historical components: • The Wall Mount: A wide, spun-brass wall escutcheon plate paired with a robust, heavy gooseneck hook. The upper curve of the hook retains an authentic, beautiful dark patina from age and historical handling. • The Suspension Rod: A highly decorative, hand-twisted square brass shaft that elegantly connects the bracket to the lamp body. • The Gothic Reservoir: An architectural, open-work "cage" body that tapers down into a triangular fuel reservoir with a single rounded pipe spout meant for holding the cotton wick. • The Drip Pan (Cazoleta): The original matching brass saucer suspended perfectly underneath the spout to catch unburnt oil droplets and protect household floors. Dimensions: • Total Height: Approx. 55cm from the very top of the wall hanger to the base of the lower drip pan. • Depth/Protrusion: Approx. 28 cm out from the wall. Condition: Excellent antique condition. The brass has been gently cleaned in the past but retains a gorgeous golden luster with a rich, natural oxidation in the deep crevices and joints. The structure is entirely intact with no cracks, repairs, or missing structural elements. A phenomenal decorative piece for rustic, vintage, or classic interiors.
