Description: On the twentieth anniversary of the death of Saint John Paul II, the bi-metallic 5 euro coin included in the 2025 Fior di Conio division series pays tribute to a Pontiff who traversed time as an tireless pilgrim, carrying the light of the Gospel on the roads of the world. We see him advance, with a firm step and open arms: a gesture that is an embrace, blessing, welcome. The garments move in the wind, as if the journey would never end. It is the living icon of a Pope who never stopped, who made travel an act of love, and dialogue a form of prayer. Behind him, the artist Orietta Rossi imagines a stylized crowd that follows him and reflects him: arms raised, hands extended, faces not drawn but recognizable in each of us. It is the people of the youths who loved him, of the World Youth Days, but also of the last who found voice and hope in him. This coin does not close a time, but opens it wide: like the arms of that Pope who still today tells us, without speaking: “Do not be afraid. Open, indeed, fling open the doors to Christ.” Artists: Daniela Longo (division series) - Orietta Rossi (5 Euro) Engravers: U. Pernazza (1 Euro cent) - M.A. Cassol (2 Euro cent) - L.
