Elegant piece of contemporary artistic ceramic exhibits the highly prized glaze 'oxblood' ( sang de boruf ), a challenging technique that requires precise kiln control to achieve deep, rich red tones. The juxtaposition of the soft iridized red body with the organic, texturized, gilded applied element elevates the piece from a functional object to a decorative sculptural object. Such pieces are favored by modern studio ceramic collectors who value the fusion of traditional glaze chemistry with avant-garde sculptural forms. Its market value stems from the complexity of the firing process and the unique, singular nature of the applied texture, which draws inspiration from contemporary design houses or individual studio artists such as Ted Secombe.
