Valerio Altamira (XX-XXI) - Regina bendata

An artwork with strong symbolic and visionary impact, suspended between the sacred and the Gothic: a crowned female figure, eyes covered by a red band, emerges solemnly against the backdrop of perforated Gothic architecture, rich in rose windows and tracery in cathedral style. The scarlet band, which blends with the long veil of the same color draping over the shoulders, introduces an enigmatic narrative element, evoking themes of blind justice, fate, or revelation denied. The black lace bodice, meticulously decorated with floral motifs and embroidery, contrasts with the pale complexion and the lips in deep red, in a chromatic play of great scenic effectiveness. The crown, adorned with red gems and gold details, and the perforated architectural background, rendered with nearly miniature precision, confer a solemn and ceremonial atmosphere to the whole, halfway between historical portrait and fantasy illustration. The painting technique, detailed and carefully crafted in the individual decorative elements, alternates descriptive precision in the lace and crown with a more painterly rendering of the complexion and veil.
