Offered in this auction by Second Vintage This Universal Geneve features a striking integrated woven sterling silver bracelet and case design, pairing a distinctly 1970s aesthetic with a highly legible, vertically brushed dial. The continuous silver construction provides a unified and elegant presence on the wrist. Brand: Universal Geneve Model: Universal Geneve (331529) Movement: Manual-winding Caliber 01, 17 Jewels Dial: Vertically brushed silver-tone with black printed Roman numerals Case Size: 26mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Sterling silver Production Year: 1970s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +10+13s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The vertically brushed silver-tone dial is well-preserved and highly legible, presenting a clean surface with no significant spotting or damage visible. Crisp black printed Roman numerals and a matching minute track provide excellent contrast against the textured background. The black stick hands are clean and contrasting, with their finish appearing intact and free of visible corrosion or bending. Case and Crystal The square case profile integrates seamlessly with the bracelet, maintaining relatively well-defined edges. The sterling silver material displays honest wear with a natural silver patina, showing moderate surface scratches and signs of tarnish consistent with its composition. The knurled crown is clearly signed with the applied Universal Geneve 'U' logo on its face. The flat crystal is generally clear over the dial, though it exhibits some scuffs and minor edge wear, particularly near the corners. Movement Powering the watch is the manual-winding Universal Geneve Caliber 01. The movement is visually clean, with plates and bridges showing no obvious corrosion or heavy scratching, and the screw heads appear in good condition. Engravings on the caliber note "UNIVERSAL", "GENEVE SWISS", "UNADJUSTED", and "17 JEWELS". Evaluated on the timegrapher at +10+13s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, featuring a distinctive integrated woven mesh design. The bracelet is marked '0.925 STERLING SILVER' and 'ITALY', showing normal wear and tarnish consistent with its age and material. The clasp features the applied Universal Geneve 'U' logo. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist fit of 17.5 cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The brushed silver-tone dial remains exceptionally clean and well-preserved. The sterling silver case and integrated mesh bracelet display honest wear, natural patina, and moderate surface scratches expected from silver. The crystal shows minor scuffs and edge wear near the corners. The manual-winding movement is visually clean and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case measures 26mm, excluding the crown. Remarks This Universal Geneve stands out through its continuous sterling silver mesh construction and classic Roman numeral dial. The presence of its original signed crown and clasp makes it an excellent choice for those appreciating cohesive 1970s design. History Universal Geneve is widely respected for its elegant dress watches and sophisticated designs produced throughout the mid-20th century. During the 1970s, integrated bracelets became highly fashionable, and this piece reflects that era's design language through its seamless woven mesh and square case geometry. The use of sterling silver adds a distinct character to the brand's diverse portfolio of mechanical timepieces, offering a warm and natural patina that evolves beautifully with wear.
