Under a Vast Sky - Gary Westall

Under a Vast Sky by Gary Westall Painting 14.0 x 11.2 :: In this painting I explore the tranquil vastness of an open landscape. The gaze wanders over the fields the narrow stream and the small cluster of trees on the horizon stretching into the distance. Of particular importance to me is the expansive sky with its moving clouds and delicate shades of gray blue and violet. I aim to capture a quiet almost timeless moment in which the sky and landscape merge. Through the free gestural application of paint I do not attempt to reproduce the landscape in minute detail but rather to convey its atmosphere and mood. I was inspired by the poetic and atmospheric landscape paintings of Edward Seago. Signed lower right.
