A great rarity even with noted issues. Hemenway's Bank of Deposite and Exchange was the dubious brainchild of Joel W. Hemenway who was a lawyer and real estate agent active in Wisconsin shortly after statehood was gained. Now Hemenway's bank was almost immediately treated as a "wildcat bank" by the press and it ultimately failed in 1850 with several reasons given for the bank's failure including Hemenway's poor health which preceded his death only a few months after the bank failed. In all, this institution is represented by a sizable number of individual Remainders, but intact sheets are seldom encountered making this something of a rarity for an otherwise "common" bank.
