An unusual royal relic. Prince Charles & Princess Anne, 1952. These matches were reportedly blown out by Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Dated October 24th, 1952, shortly after Queen Elizabeth II’s accession, this piece was preserved following a sitting at Marcus Adams’ studio, one of the most iconic Royal photographers of the 20th century. What makes this truly special is not just the provenance but the intimacy of the object. Something ephemeral. Something never meant to be kept and yet, it survived. From a private collection. Acquired through a French auction house in Paris
