Comprising one 14K gold and enamel National Society of the Colonial Dames of America membership medal, marked "BB&B" (for Bailey, Banks & Biddle), engraved "Louise F. Hays No 556 1923", suspension marked Georgia; and one sterling silver General Federation of Women's Clubs Pioneer Club Woman medal, marked "Sterling", engraved "3rd District G.F.W.C." and "1930" to front and "Louise F. Hayes" to reverse. Approximate dimensions: Largest: 3 1/4 x 1 1/2 in. (8.3 x 3.8 cm.). Colonial Dames total weight with ribbon and metal bar closure: 20.6 grams, Women's Clubs total weight with metal bar closure: 25.8 grams. Provenance: From the Gaston Collection, acquired through generational transfer from the Estate of Louise Frederick Hays (1881-1951), wife of Senator James E. Hays; the Estate of Louise Frederick Hays Gaston and Dr. Joseph H. Gaston III; and the Estate of Dr. J. Harper Gaston and Dr. Anne Elizabeth Hendrick Gaston. The multi-generational collection was housed at two notable Georgia homes�Twin Oaks (a National Register Greek Revival estate in Greenville, Georgia and Rhodes Hall (the �castle on Peachtree Street� that functioned a Georgia State Archives from 1930-1965).
