In 1954, the adventure film "Green Fire" starring Grace Kelly was released in cinemas - and the title also applies to this necklace, which was created around the same time and features a mysteriously glowing green tourmaline on its clasp. The piece of jewellery is typical of its time in every respect: cultured pearls, which had only been introduced to the international market a few decades earlier, finally became a must-have in the post-war period, and the pearl necklace was just as much a must for elegant suits or cocktail dresses as it was for sweaters and circle skirts. The Japanese cultured pearls selected for this necklace are very uniformly round and show few to very few growth marks. They shine softly with a very good to good lustre. Over the creamy white base colour, they have a pink and partly slightly greenish overlay. Together, they form two strands in the neck-length of 43.0 cm, which Grace Kelly also liked to wear. The special highlight of the necklace is the strikingly designed clasp: it features the bold colours and abstract design language of the Midcentury. Polished gold bars are applied to a matt gold background, between which small octagonal diamonds are set. Between them, the tourmaline shines in a closed setting. The design and materiality of the clasp are typical of German jewellery from the 1950s, which often had artistic aspirations: the clasp is also marked on the back as "handmade". We have had the necklace restrung and knotted so that it can be worn again for many years without any worries. A wonderful pearl necklace from the heyday of the cultured pearl!
