Two similar George III pewter spire flagons, circa 1760; one previously attributed to William Charsley, London (fl. 1729 - 1770); the hinged domed covers with knopped finials, five-lug hinges and chairback thumbpieces; the multi-scrolled handles descending from the shoulders to the tapered bodies; each above a reeded, spreading foot; 31cm high. Provenance: The flagon previously attributed to William Charsley, sold Sotheby's, London 25th April 1985, lot 49. After which, both flagons; the Gadd Collection, sold Bonhams London, 24th February 2016. After which Bishop & Miller, Stowmarket; May 2022, lot 111 Note: The Sotheby's example was attributed to Charsley on grounds of its form and detail, and its measurements, including capacity.
