Large Serpulid Worm Tube Colony – Sculptural Marine Formation on Display Stand An impressive natural aggregation of serpulid worm tubes, forming a dense and highly sculptural marine structure. The specimen is composed of hundreds of intertwined calcareous tubes, once constructed and inhabited by serpulid polychaete worms. Their overlapping growth creates an extraordinary three-dimensional network of openings, ridges and tubular formations, giving the colony an appearance that is both coral-like and architectural. The front of the specimen is especially dense, with countless circular tube openings packed closely together, while the reverse reveals longer exposed tubes running in multiple directions. This contrast makes the piece particularly interesting from every angle and clearly shows the way the colony developed over time. Natural tones range from pale cream and beige to soft pink and light brown, with subtle variations throughout the structure. A plastic display base is included, allowing the specimen to be presented securely while preserving its natural form. An unusual and highly decorative marine specimen, ideal for a natural history collection, cabinet of curiosities or distinctive interior display.
