Tonino Manna (1952) - Bambino che legge

Oil on canvas “Child reading” Tonino Manna Era: XX century Excellent condition Dimensions: 55x44; 40x30 Provenance: private collection of a Palermo family. The oil on canvas painting embodies one of the most famous and sought-after themes in the painter Tonino Manna’s work: the universe of childhood captured in its spontaneity. The piece depicts a child wearing a deep red sweater, seated on a sofa, totally absorbed and focused on reading a large book or illustrated magazine. The neorealist style with strong impressionist influences is revealed in the mastery of chiaroscuro and in the bold, vibrant brushstrokes. The light strikes the face of the young reader and the sweater, creating an intimate, warm atmosphere and deep domestic quiet. Condition report: • Painting: Excellent overall condition. The paint film is intact, colors are vivid, the canvas maintains its original tension on the wooden frame, which is equipped with original canvas wedges in the corners. There are no color losses or evident restorations. • Frame: The work is enhanced by a substantial and rich gilt wooden frame with bas-relief decorations in Baroque style. The frame shows light and normal signs of aging consistent with the object's age, but remains structurally solid and highly striking. It is considered a tribute to the auction winner. Tracked shipping by courier The frame is considered a gift. Any transport-related defects are not grounds for complaint or cancellation of the sale.
