Tintin T9 - Le Crabe aux Pinces D’or (B1) - 1 Album - Reprint - 1947

The Adventures of Tintin – The Crab with the Golden Claws, by Hergé, Casterman editions. Very beautiful old DR-press edition from 1947, with 2nd plate B1, showing all the sought-after characteristics of this edition. This album notably features its era-soft cover binding, a particularly interesting feature of this older print run, as well as its red spine, blue endpapers, and the four color plate illustrations. Bibliographic features DR print run of 1947. 2nd plate B1. Era-soft binding. Red spine. White title on the first cover. Red title on the title page. Blue illustrated endpapers. Presence of the 4 color plates characteristic of editions prior to 1948. 62 numbered pages. Printed in Belgium. Condition report Very fine overall appearance for an album dating from 1947, i.e., nearly 80 years ago. Strengths: No tears or handwritten annotations. Complete album, with its 4 color plates. Very nice freshness of the interior illustrations. Colors still vivid and well preserved. Pages clean and pleasant to read. Illustrated blue endpapers well present. Original era-soft binding preserved, showing good overall condition. Red spine preserved. Beautiful overall appearance, particularly appreciable for a specimen of this age. Defects to note: The album naturally shows some signs of time: light rubbing on the covers, corner and cap wear, small handling marks and some foxing and aging traces on certain pages. The soft binding also shows some signs of use related to its age, while retaining a good overall appearance. These defects are consistent with the age of the work and do not detract from its nice presentation. A fine collectible example of the 1947 DR print run, especially interesting due to its 2nd plate B1, its era-soft binding, blue endpapers, and the presence of the four color plates. An old album that has preserved a beautiful presentation, good internal freshness, and remarkable colors for its age. The photographs are part of the description and allow precise appreciation of the album’s condition. Careful packaging and very good protection.
