These "model pennies" were created by Joseph Moore with the intent to show the Crown that pennies did not have to be so large and cumbersome. They became quite popular with users and the mint had to make a statement that they were not mint-made. 1) Model Penny token with brass insert which should grade VF-XF. - 3.4 grams; 2) Model Penny token with nickel/zinc insert which should grade around Fine. 3.75 grams; 3) Model Half Penny - consistent color, 3.32 gram
