All auctions / Silver & Gold / Thomas & William Chawner - Tea spoon (6) - Sterling Silver - George III

Set of six George III silver teaspoons by Thomas & William Chawner, England, dating approximately to circa 1765–1770. Each spoon features a shell-shaped bowl and a feather-edge decorated handle, characteristic of English Georgian silver of the period. The spoons retain partially preserved hallmarks, including a maker’s mark associated with Thomas & William Chawner. As the complete hallmark sequence is worn and not fully legible, the exact assay year cannot be confirmed; the dating is therefore given as an estimated period. The set is accompanied by a later fitted presentation case, which is not original to the spoons. Dimensions: approx. 13 cm long each. Total weight: approx. 93 g (six spoons, excluding the case). Case: approx. 16 cm wide. Condition: Antique condition with tarnishing, surface scratches and wear consistent with age and use. The hallmarks show wear. One teaspoon has a small split to the bowl. The later presentation case also shows signs of age and use. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. The lot will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking and insurance.
