Thomas Mills, Berkeley, an oak and mahogany moonphase longcase clock the eight-day duration movement having an anchor escapement and striking the hours on a bell, with the iron dial falseplate embossed with the dialmaker's name Wilks, Liverpool, the twelve-inch painted break-arch dial having black Arabic numerals, painted shell decoration to the four corners and decorative blued-steel hands, the dial centre having a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and signed Thos. Mills, Berkeley, with a moonphase date disc to the arch painted with day and night themes, the oak case with mahogany and ebonised stringing, diamond inlay to the trunk and base, the hood with brass Corinthian capitals to the pillars and surmounted by a swan-neck pediment, all standing on bracket feet, height 215cm. Thomas Mills is recorded as working in Berkeley, Gloucestershire from circa 1813 until after 1816.
