Third Nepal-Tibet War (1855-1856), in the name of Jang Bahadur, silver Campaign Medal, VS 1912 (1855), Obv. sword with garland in centre, surrounded by a legend which starts at 12 o' clock: 1912 salma Gorkha Sarkar bata Bhot phatte ("In the year 1912 VS (1855) the Government of Gorkha defeated Tibet"), ornamental border between two outer circles, Rev. small circle in centre encompassing four pellets and legend near ornamental border which is outlined by two circles, inscription, Śrī 3 Maharaja Jang Bahadur Purānā Gorakh paltan, 22.26g (Gabrisch/ Rhodes, no. 7), brightly toned and with verdigris to suspension, very fine; another as before, Third Nepal-Tibet War (1855-1856), in the name of Jang Bahadur, silver Campaign Medal, VS 1912 (1855), Rev. inscription, Śrī 3 Maharaja Jang Bahadur Varda Bahadur Paltan (Gabrisch/ Rhodes, no. 11), with some light contact marks, toned, very fine with original suspension (2) Provenance The Nicholas Rhodes Collection of Nepalese Coins and Medals: Part Two Subject to 20% VAT on Buyer’s Premium.
