Thermidor – Burgundy Dial – Date – Mechanical Movement – 1970-1979 A distinctive vintage Thermidor wristwatch from the 1970s, featuring a striking geometric case and a rich burgundy dial that perfectly captures the bold design language of the period. The watch features a square-shaped case with softened corners and a slightly curved profile, creating the characteristic TV-style aesthetic that became particularly popular during the 1970s. The deep burgundy dial is complemented by pink-tone hour markers and numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock, while the date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. The dial is signed Thermidor and Antichoc, indicating the shock-protected construction of its mechanical movement. Technical Details Brand: Thermidor Type: Men’s wristwatch Case material: Chrome plated Case dimensions: Approx. 28 x 36 mm Glass: Acrylic crystal Dial: Burgundy dial with pink-tone indexes and Arabic numerals Movement: Mechanical, manual winding Functions: Hours, minutes, date Features: Antichoc / shock protection Strap: Generic brown leather strap, approx. 21 cm Water resistance: Not tested for water Box: Generic box included Condition: Grade B This Thermidor is in Grade B condition, showing signs of age and use consistent with its vintage character. The chrome plated case presents scratches, small marks and surface wear. The burgundy dial retains its attractive and unusual color, with visible signs of ageing and small marks. There is a more noticeable area of deterioration/discoloration near the lower-right edge of the dial, around the 5 o’clock position, clearly visible in the photographs. The acrylic crystal shows scratches and signs of normal use. The case back presents light surface scratches and marks consistent with previous wear. The watch has not been tested for water resistance; therefore, water resistance is not guaranteed. Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item. Story & Heritage Thermidor is a vintage watch name associated with European mechanical watches that embraced the changing aesthetics of the second half of the 20th century. This example is particularly representative of the 1970s, a decade in which traditional round cases increasingly gave way to more architectural shapes. Square, tonneau and TV-style cases became an important part of watch design, reflecting the broader fascination with geometric forms and modern industrial styling. The deep burgundy dial is one of the most distinctive elements of this piece. Combined with its pink-tone details and unconventional case architecture, it gives the watch a strong period identity that separates it from the more conservative designs of the previous decade. Its mechanical movement and date complication preserve the traditional watchmaking character beneath an unmistakably 1970s exterior. A distinctive vintage piece for collectors who appreciate unusual dial colors, geometric cases and authentic 1970s mechanical watches. Internal Reference Number - FLO-207
