The Visitation with Saints Joachim and Joseph. Florentine School. 16th century.

Descriptio Oil on panel. Dimensions: 12.5 x 16 cm. In an intimate and secluded scene, the figures of the Virgin and her interlocutor, possibly Saint Joachim, meet in a solemn gesture of greeting, while Saint Joseph and another figure look on from the background. The faces are delicately modeled, with barely hinted halos and garments in shades of red, blue, and ochre. The loose treatment and small dimensions indicate a work of private devotion. The composition is part of the Florentine Cinquecento, in a style that combines Quattrocento heritage and early Mannerist echoes. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
