Elegant terracotta sculpture reproducing the iconography and refinement of the famous Greek Tanagra figurines, flourishing in the Hellenistic period (4th-3rd century BC). The work depicts a woman with intimate, gathered bearing, seated on a throne. The figure is entirely wrapped in a wide mantle that also covers the head, leaving a dense and sinuous play of drapery to emerge. The gentle tilt of the head gives the sculpture that reflective and melancholic atmosphere typical of ancient Greek sculpture, aimed at capturing the interiority and daily grace of the subjects. The construction is perfectly intact, free of cracks, breaks or restorations. On the lower base there is the hand-engraved signature "M F" before firing, identifying the workshop or the ceramic artisan responsible for the reproduction. It shows slight, curling superficial abrasions of the patina that simulate the wear of time, perfectly coherent with the decorative nature of the object. An enchanting and visually striking piece of furniture, ideal for collectors of classical replicas, lovers of the Grand Tour and ancient art.
