Taxidermy: A Victorian Cased Leucistic or Golden Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos), dated 1873, (Turdus philomelos), Turdus philomelos), dated 1873, an unusual full-mount adult in full leucistic plumage, perched upon a small lichen covered branch, set within a plain white interior, enclosed within a period pine single-glass display case, 24.5cm by 14cm by 23cm, bearing hand-written data label to verso -"This variety of Thrush was found in a nest when young, with three others in Squire Penruddocke park, Compton Chamberlain, Wiltshire, about the year 1873, the other fledglings died, J, Ley, Greaves 1899". Leucism is a genetic condition that causes a partial loss of pigmentation in animals and or birds, leading to white, pale, or patchy skin, fur, feathers, or scales while leaving the eyes their normal dark colour
