All auctions / Miscellaneous / Tapestry - 52 cm - 118 cm - The Bayeux Tapestry
- Wool embroidery on cotton taffeta. - This superb edition offers collectors a truly extraordinary opportunity: the seemingly impossible possibility to incorporate the epic elegance and narrative dynamism of the masterpiece of Norman art directly onto the walls of their living room. Reproducing with admirable textile fidelity the famous scene of the ships, the piece faithfully renders the characteristic ochre, greens and terracottas, as well as the stylized knights, the Latin inscriptions and the borders laden with fantastic bestiary that immortalized the conquest of England in the 11th century. Thanks to the meticulous replication work of this vintage edition, the bold bidder will be able to democratize a fundamental fragment of European medieval history and turn their own home space into the perfect gallery to display the visual monumental nature of the Bayeux Tapestry. - Maximum interior measure / Total dimensions: 113 x 47 cm / 118 x 52 cm with frame - Good overall condition.
