An excellent 6-LP collection centred around Talking Heads and the groundbreaking creative partnership between David Byrne and Brian Eno, covering one of the most influential periods of late-1970s and early-1980s New Wave, Art Rock and Post-Punk. The collection includes five Talking Heads albums, together with Brian Eno & David Byrne's landmark experimental album My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. Particularly interesting is the variety of European pressings from Portugal, Germany and Italy, including contemporary pressings from the original release years as well as two Italian Sire “Best Buy Series” editions. Several of the records retain their original printed inner sleeves and/or inserts, as shown in the photographs. 1. TALKING HEADS – Talking Heads: 77 Sire Records – SRYL 6036 Country: Italy Year of this edition: 1981 Format: Vinyl LP, Stereo Edition: Italian “Best Buy Series” reissue Original album released: 1977 SIAE Italian pressing. Italian Sire edition of the band's legendary debut album, including “Psycho Killer”, the song that became one of Talking Heads' defining recordings. The yellow Sire labels carry the Best Buy Series logo and the Italian catalogue number SRYL 6036. Vinyl: VG+ Sleeve shows normal age-related storage, edge and surface wear; please refer carefully to the photographs. 2. TALKING HEADS – More Songs About Buildings and Food Sire Records – SRYL 6058 Country: Italy Year of this edition: 1981 Format: Vinyl LP, Stereo Edition: Italian “Best Buy Series” reissue Original album released: 1978 Mastered by Piero Mannucci. Produced by Brian Eno and Talking Heads, this was the beginning of the extraordinarily important collaboration between Eno and the band. Includes the celebrated Talking Heads interpretation of Al Green's “Take Me to the River.” Original yellow Sire labels with Best Buy Series identification. Vinyl: VG+ Sleeve with normal signs of age and handling. 3. TALKING HEADS – Fear of Music Sire Records – SRK 6076 NP Country: Portugal Year: 1979 Format: Vinyl LP, Stereo Portuguese Sire edition, manufactured in Portugal. Produced by Brian Eno and Talking Heads. An especially attractive European edition of the band's third studio album, housed in its distinctive black textured/embossed sleeve inspired by metal diamond plate. Includes “I Zimbra,” “Cities,” “Life During Wartime,” “Heaven” and “Memories Can't Wait.” The Portuguese manufacture and licensing information is present on the sleeve and labels. Vinyl: VG+ Original textured sleeve shows age-related edge/corner and surface wear, clearly visible in the photographs. 4. TALKING HEADS – Remain in Light Sire Records – 202 980 / 202 980-320 Country: Germany Year: 1980 Format: Vinyl LP, Stereo German Sire pressing from the original year of release. Produced by Brian Eno and Talking Heads. One of the most celebrated albums of the entire New Wave/Post-Punk era, combining rock, funk, electronics, African-influenced polyrhythms and experimental studio techniques. Includes the classic “Once in a Lifetime”, together with “Born Under Punches,” “Crosseyed and Painless,” “The Great Curve” and “Houses in Motion.” This copy is particularly attractive because it retains its original printed/lyric material, shown separately in the photographs. Iconic red, blue and black computer-manipulated artwork designed by Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz with Walter Bender and Scott Fisher. Vinyl: VG+ Sleeve and original insert/inner material preserved, with normal signs of age. 5. TALKING HEADS – Speaking in Tongues Sire Records – SRK 23883 Country: Italy Year: 1983 Format: Vinyl LP, Stereo Italian Sire pressing from the original year of release. SIAE edition. Mastered by Piero Mannucci. The album that brought Talking Heads even greater international success, featuring “Burning Down the House,” “Girlfriend Is Better,” “Slippery People” and “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody).” The copy retains its highly characteristic original printed inner sleeve, illustrated with reproductions of lyrics, notes and handwritten studio material on both sides, as shown in the photographs. Vinyl: VG+ Original sleeve and printed inner sleeve present. 6. BRIAN ENO & DAVID BYRNE – My Life in the Bush of Ghosts E.G. Records – 2311 060 Country: Italy Year: 1981 Format: Vinyl LP, Stereo Made in Italy – SIAE Produced by Brian Eno and David Byrne. A landmark experimental recording created during the period of Byrne and Eno's intense collaboration around Fear of Music and Remain in Light. The album was remarkably innovative in its extensive use of found voices, sampled speech, radio broadcasts, rhythmic loops, electronics and world-music influences, anticipating techniques that would become increasingly important in electronic, hip-hop and sample-based music. Includes “America Is Waiting,” “Mea Culpa,” “Regiment,” “Help Me Somebody” and “The Jezebel Spirit.” Original Italian E.G. Records edition, catalogue number 2311 060. Vinyl: VG+ Sleeve with normal signs of age and storage. Overall condition Vinyl records: VG+ overall. The records have been preserved in very good collectible condition and show normal light signs of previous use consistent with their age. The outer sleeves are in varying condition and show normal age-related shelf, edge and handling wear, particularly on some of the older covers. Please examine the numerous photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Importantly, original inserts and printed inner sleeves are still present where shown in the photographs, adding to the completeness and collectability of the set. A very appealing collection documenting the extraordinary creative development of Talking Heads and the David Byrne/Brian Eno collaboration between 1979 and 1983, with European editions from Italy, Portugal and Germany. The records will be carefully and professionally packed, with the vinyl protected separately from the outer sleeves where appropriate, to ensure safe transport.
