Table - Wood

A classically styled, two-tiered antique wooden pedestal (flower stand or plant stand), typically from the late 19th century or the first half of the 20th century. Its design shows an elegant blend of Art Nouveau and Chippendale style features. Key features: • Design: Tall, slender structure with a square top and a rounded lower shelf. • Legs: Gently curved, graceful “cabriole” style legs, topped with subdued, carved plant/organic motifs. The bottom of the legs ends in a stylized animal foot (lion’s paw or bird’s claw). • Material: Dark-toned, solid hardwood (most often oak, beech or mahogany). This type of furniture was originally used to elegantly display houseplants (such as ferns), statues, or decorative vases in the drawing rooms or hallways of bourgeois homes. The table is in very good condition, with minor signs of use, a valuable collector's item. We can post it carefully packaged, in an insured, registered package.
