Extremely Rare Plain Edge Variety (t) RUSSIA. Ruble, 1814-CNB NC. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander I. PCGS VF-30. Dav-281; KM-C-130; cf. Bit-108. Variety with plain edge. An EXTREMELY RARE variety for the date, unlisted in Bitkin. This circulated but ultimately problem-free exemplar exhibits an attractive deep mottled tone in the recesses, framing the obverse designs with a backdrop of charcoal crimson, and amber. A terrific opportunity for the specialist, as this variant is missing from most major collections and is unlikely to appear in auction again for quite some time. Estimate: $2,500 - $4,500. Provenance: From the Sigma Collection. Ex: Leonid Soedermann Collection (Sincona 12 - 10/2013) Lot # 451 @ ChF 10,000 hammer. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA. (t) This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States.
