Wonderfully Toned Fantasy Tael (t) CHINA. Shanghai/Kwangtung. Fantasy "Double Dragon" Silver Tael, "CD (1907)" (ca. early-mid 20th Century). Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS MS-63. cf. K-B34/B33 (for obv./rev.); KMX-M68; WS-1349-12. Though this type doesn't feature any mention of an associated province, it is often attributed to Kwangtung due to its association to K-B33, with which it shares one side, that does refer to the province. Very pleasingly toned, this Choice offering is tied with just one other example as the only such representatives of the type in the PCGS census. Crisp and elegant, with an engaging cabinet nature to the color. It should also be noted that the obverse of this type replicates that of the extremely rare Kwan Ping Trade Tael, of which approximately 10 examples are known. Estimate: $7,500 - $15,000.
