SWEDEN. The Bombardment of Copenhagen and Tönningen Silver Medal, 1700. Karl XII. NGC MS-62. Hild-31; Delzanno-46a; van Loon IV, 247; Bruun-17674. Diameter: 63 mm. Weight: 74 gms. Extremely rare medal showing the merciless bombardment of the Danish cities of Tönningen and Copenhagen by the combined forces of the Swedish, English, and Dutch fleets. Silvery, lightly gray, untouched surfaces with centuries old, yet subtle patina adorns this magnificent survivor. Many of the towers in the two cityscapes can be identified, none more easily than the Round Tower in Copenhagen which luckily wasn't hit and can still be seen today. Estimate: €6,000 - €8,000. Provenance: From the L.E. Bruun Collection. To view supplemental information and all items from the L.E. Bruun Collection, click here. Please note: Bid amounts do not include VAT.
