SWEDEN. Queen Ulrika Eleonora Silver Medal, 1687. Karl XI. NGC MS-64. Hild-9; Delzanno-9b; Bruun-17648. Diameter: 53 mm. Weight: 65 gms. By Arvid Karlsteen (AKarlsteen). A rare medal in exceptional condition: A well-sculpted, highly detailed portrait, very lustrous surfaces complimented by a blazing, blue and purple toning. Honoring the piety and loveable character of queen Ulrika Eleonora, the Elder. Daughter of Frederik III of Denmark and therefore sister to Christian V. The joining of the two royal houses in 1680 have surely spared many a soldier's life on the battlefield, seeing as the hostilities between the two countries subsided after that. The hostilities reignited in The Great Northern War of 1700-1720, even though the kings of Denmark and Sweden were first cousins. Estimate: €3,000 - €4,000. Provenance: From the L.E. Bruun Collection. To view supplemental information and all items from the L.E. Bruun Collection, click here. Please note: Bid amounts do not include VAT. Buyers which are non-VAT registered entities or individuals who take delivery of lots within EU countries subject to margin scheme taxation will be invoiced a VAT charge and a Buyer’s Premium for a total of 27.5% based upon the total amount of the hammer.
