Splendid original lithograph on paper depicting a Virgin and Child by the painter and lithographer Suzanne Tourte. One of the 40 copies of the edition, this one addressed to Germaine Drouvillé and numbered 6/40. Title: The Virgin and Child Artist: Suzanne Tourte (1904-1979) Technique: lithography on paper Signature: Signed, titled and numbered in pencil. Plate format: 31 x 23 cm Sheet format: 48 x 32 cm Condition: Good condition. Superb colors. Marie Suzanne Tourte (1904-1979) was a French painter, engraver and lithographer from the Marne. Settling in Paris at 20, she joined the artistic avant-garde and won the prestigious Blumenthal Prize in 1932. Her style evolves from a classical figuration toward geometric and pared-down forms from the 1950s onward. Close to illustrious writers such as André Maurois, her works are today kept in major collections, notably at the Centre Pompidou.
