Among all gemstones, it is the untreated colored stones that are considered particularly rare and therefore especially precious. As miracles of nature, they are formed over thousands of years in the earth's interior, where the serendipity of perfect chemical composition gives them the color they seek. If the so highly valued transparency and clarity are then added, one knows, it concerns a very special stone. We encountered such a sapphire in Hamburg. The not heat treated (no heat) gemstone shows a mysterious, deep blue color, which makes you think of the depths of the ocean. The sapphire has a weight of 9.92 carats and shows a rectangular step cut. Hand cut towards the end of the 20th century, it presented itself as an ideal center stone for an engagement ring. Because traditionally, the sapphire in the gemlore, the language of jewels, is associated with loving fidelity and with truth - a meaning that is often further emphasized by the use of diamonds symbolizing eternity. Creating a suitable setting for the stone did not prove to be easy; in fact, the stone had been waiting for its use for quite some time, having lain unused in a box for several decades. In our workshop we created a setting that does justice to the sapphire: Crafted of platinum, it lifts the gemstone with four side lobes. The simple ring band splits at the shoulders, crosses over and is set with twelve small diamonds in this area. We have sustainably manufactured the ring from recycled materials in the process. Because of its romantic symbolism, the ring is particularly suitable as an engagement ring or love gift, but also as a luxurious statement piece. Not only extremely decorative, the stone is also a small investment. We deliver the ring with the corresponding certificate of the German Gemstone Valuation Society.
