Sulzer Laboratories Inc., Bethesda, Maryland Frequency Standard with matching Model 5R Power Supply ** A high precision quartz crystal frequency standard, dating from the late 1950s or early 1960s, the instrument comprises a separate frequency standard unit and matching Model 5R regulated power supply. The oscillator incorporates a large cylindrical resonator enclosed within a glass envelope to provide exceptional thermal stability, a characteristic feature of early frequency standards. A front-panel adjustment calibrated from 0 to 1000 × 10⁻⁹ permits precise trimming of the output frequency relative to the reference Instruments of this type were intended for use in scientific laboratories, telecommunications and military installations, where an exceptionally stable frequency reference was required for precision timing, calibration and frequency measurement ** From the David Read Collection
