Sublime & Antique Horse Head - Wood - India - 19th century

Sublime & Ancient (circa 1850) finely carved Marwari horse head from Rajasthan, India. It has retained its original colors. Exceptional patina! A metal mount allows it to be hung on a wall. The Marwari is a breed of horses originating from the Mârvar region in India (Jodhpur). It is easily recognizable and widely renowned for its crescent-shaped ears. Teak horse heads adorned the entrance doors of traditional houses in pairs. Dimensions 26 x 6.5 x 12 cm Antique dealer specializing in Asian arts; my positive rating is 100%.
