Obamba Mask, Gabon A remarkably pared-down African mask divided into zones of contrasting colors, on which discreet features indicate a human face. The eyebrow arches outlined in black, cutting against a light kaolin patina and the padouk bark color, form a common element to the Fang, Pové Tsoaho. The Obamba mask and the Adouma/Mvudi mask are similar in appearance. Matte, velvety patina. Erosions The Mahongwe, Obamba, Shamayé, and Sangc, together with the Kota, form a group possessing similar rites and social structures. It is in the eastern part of Gabon where they live among the forests. Some crossed the Congo border after tracing the sources of the Ogooué.
