Stunning Enormous Prognathodon Curii (Mosasaur) Rooted...

Scientific name: Prognathodon currii, sp. nov. 2002 - (mosasaur tooth) Location: Oued Zem, Morocco Geological Formation: Ouled Abdoun Basin (Phosphate beds) Age: Upper Cretaceous, Maastrichtian stage, (~66 Million Years) Size: 12,1 cm REF.: #S1045 DESCRIPTION: Observations: This enormous Prognathodon tooth is preserved in exceptional way. Fully rooted. However, during their excavation, the crown broke and separated from the root. Therefore, these specimens were subsequently restored by gluing and filling the teeth and reattaching the crown to the root. Apart from that, there is no more restorations on them. The size corresponds without doubt to an adult individual. The quality of the enamel is very high due to the beautiful range of caramel brilliant hues. It does not have any product or treatment that has altered its original shine and color. Top rare mosasaur species. Another very interesting aspect of this specimen is that the cavity where a germ-emerging replacement tooth once grew is visible within the root. Mosasaurs, like sharks or terrestrial dinosaurs, continuously replace their teeth throughout their lives. When a tooth begins to wear down, a new one starts to grow underneath and replaces it. Here's a great example. All of our fossils come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Every week, the issued Certificates of Authenticity are updated in our database verification system on our website.
