ROUND THONET-STYLE STOOL / OCCASIONAL TABLE WITH VIENNA CANE DESCRIPTION IN ENGLISH Elegant round wooden stool or small occasional table with Vienna cane, characterised by a simple, harmonious and refined structure typical of the Viennese furniture tradition from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The piece has a compact circular form, measuring 40 cm in diameter and 50 cm in height, making it particularly versatile and suitable for a variety of interior settings. The upper section features a round Vienna cane seat, set within a strong circular wooden frame. The combination of the natural colour of the woven surface and the darker tone of the wood creates an attractive visual contrast. The perfectly circular seat gives the piece a balanced and elegant appearance. The wooden frame has a simple and functional profile, consistent with the tradition of Viennese furniture. The lower structure consists of four wooden legs, slightly tapered and symmetrically arranged. The legs directly support the circular upper frame and provide the piece with good stability. The wood displays warm natural tones and an aged patina developed over the years, with natural grain and colour variations contributing to the authentic character of the piece. The overall design is characterised by understated elegance: the circular shape, woven seat and four-leg construction strongly evoke the functional and decorative language of Viennese furniture of the period. STYLE AND PERIOD Period: Late 19th – early 20th century Style: Thonet / Viennese tradition Material: Wood and Vienna cane Type: Stool, occasional seat or small side table The structure, circular seat and use of Vienna cane are characteristic of the Thonet and Viennese furniture tradition, which became particularly widespread from the late 19th century through the early decades of the 20th century. This type of furniture is particularly appreciated for its understated elegance, functionality and ability to complement both classical and contemporary interiors. CONDITION The piece is presented in good vintage/antique condition, consistent with its age and previous use. There are normal signs of age and use, including minor scratches, abrasions, colour variations, slight imperfections to the finish and traces of wear on the wooden surfaces. The structure appears overall solid and stable. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and clearly show the overall appearance and current condition of the piece. MEASUREMENTS * Diameter: 40 cm * Height: 50 cm SUGGESTED USE AND INTERIOR Thanks to its compact dimensions, this piece can be used in several different ways. It can serve as a stool, occasional seat, small side table, occasional table or decorative furnishing element. It would be particularly suitable for a living room, entrance hall, bedroom, study, library, boutique or interior decorated in a classical, vintage or Viennese style. It can also be incorporated into a modern or contemporary interior, where the contrast between contemporary furniture and a piece inspired by the Viennese tradition creates a sophisticated and original effect. Its compact dimensions make it easy to place even in smaller spaces while still providing a strong decorative presence. An interesting piece for collectors and enthusiasts of Thonet furniture, Viennese interiors, Vienna cane and European antiques.
