Square quarto, publisher’s hardcover with an illustrated black photographic dust jacket. Text in English, German, and French. Numerous full-page black-and-white photographic reproductions. A MONOGRAPH DEDICATED TO ONE OF THE FOUNDING FIGURES OF MODERN AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHY. A representative selection of Alfred Stieglitz’s work, from his early urban views of the late 19th century to the famous series of cloud photographs titled *Equivalents*. Notably reproduced are *Venetian Boy* (1897), *Spring Showers, New York*, and *Mountains and Sky, Lake George* (1924). The book also highlights Stieglitz’s pivotal role in the Photo-Secession, Gallery 291, and the recognition of photography as an art form in its own right. Condition: good copy.
