Statue of Avalokiteshvara Shadakshari (Lokeshvara)...

Elegant figurative sculpture with a silvered patina, depicting Avalokiteshvara with four arms (Shadakshari Lokeshvara), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, a central figure in Tibetan Buddhism. The deity is represented seated in the classic lotus meditation pose (padmasana) on a base shaped like a double lotus flower. The two front hands are brought together at the chest in the attitude of prayer and devotion (anjali mudra). The back right hand holds the bead mala, while the back left hand supports the lotus blossom. The statue is rich in decorative details: the body is adorned with a finely worked crown with pointed tips, necklaces, bracelets and lightweight drapes that flutter on the sides with sinuous lines. The bottom of the base is sealed with the traditional metal plate bearing the engraving of the Double Vajra (Visvavajra), symbol of protection and of the object’s spiritual consecration having taken place. Technical Details and Specifications Subject: Avalokiteshvara / Shadakshari Lokeshvara Material: Silvered brass with patina finish Era: second half of the 20th century Origin / Region: Nepal / Tibet / North India Special feature: Base sealed with engraving of the Visvavajra (Double Vajra) Condition: Excellent overall condition, with natural patination due to age that gives depth to the incised details.
