Statue, Elefante con aspiraciones - 45 cm - Steel - 1971

Pop-art elephant. In Spain it marked the beginning of an art that was almost clandestine. It wasn't sold in shops because it did not please the dictator Franco. After the General's death, Spain opened up to democracy and, in a few years, these works became famous in what was called “la movida madrileña,” which spread across Spain. My parents bought this figure from a neighboring artist before it could be sold in shops. Year 1971.
