SPIROU - Journal Album, No. 102 - Lot 243

SPIROU - Journal Album, No. 102 Dupuis, 1966. Large quarto hardcover, blue cloth spine, front cover illustrated in color. An elegant collection of stories from *Le Journal Spirou*, corresponding to the 102nd *Album du Journal*, published as a direct continuation of volumes 100 and 101. The particularly appealing cover depicts Spirou and the Marsupilami at the foot of a tree whose bark is covered with names and inscriptions evoking several of the magazine’s iconic characters—Lucky Luke, the Daltons, Gaston, Boule and Bill, Tif and Tondu, and the Beaver Patrol—in a composition that is both narrative and decorative, typical of Franquin’s style. This volume attests to the editorial richness of Dupuis during its golden age and is a highly sought-after link when used to complete a continuous series of hardcover albums from the 1960s.
