Fernando VII - 10 Reales 1821 UG. Coin of the 'Cabezón' type, without the usual wear of these pieces. Silver 13.1 g. Very scarce. By the decree of May 1, 1821, an effort was made to clean up the Spanish economy. To that end, one of the measures taken was the elimination of dependence on French coinage, so its circulation was prohibited. Its collection was ordered and the re-stamping of the silver Luis coins, thus creating the re-stamped Fernando VII 10-real coin. Only the re-stamped version would be accepted, and the non-re-stamped would be treated as base metal.
