SPAIN. Madrid. 5 Pesetas. 1893. Alfonso XIII (1886-1931) - Value: 5 Pesetas. - Reign: Alfonso XIII (1886-1931). - Year: 1893. - Inscriptions: Obverse: ALFONSO XIII POR LA G. DE DIOS · 1893. Reverse: REY CONST. DE ESPAÑA · 5 PESETAS · PLUS ULTRA. - Grade: AU50 (GBCA). Coin of 5 Pesetas silver with the juvenile bust of Alfonso XIII looking left, in a realistic style typical of late 19th-century issues during the regency of Maria Cristina. The reverse features the crowned coat of arms of Spain between the Pillars of Hercules with ribbons bearing the motto PLUS ULTRA, a heraldic composition of great strength and excellent visual balance. The piece shows moderate wear at the highest points of the portrait and the shield, in line with the AU50 grade, still retaining abundant detail in the hair, the crown, and the shield quarters. The fields show numerous circulation marks and fine surface scratches typical of commercial use, yet preserving a appealing residual mint luster and a pleasant natural silver tone. This piece belongs to one of the most emblematic series of Spanish numismatics, minted during the early years of Alfonso XIII's effective reign and representative of the Restoration monetary system.
