Sony - GV-U5E / TGV-1B (Video Walkman Compo set) Walkman - Multiple models

Sony Video Walkman Compo GV-U5E + TGV-1B – Video8 Hi-Fi Stereo – extensive set For sale is a rare Sony Video Walkman Compo system from the early 1990s, consisting of the Sony GV-U5E Video8 Hi-Fi Stereo Video Cassette Recorder and the accompanying Sony TGV-1B PAL/SECAM Tuner/Timer Unit. The modular Video-Walkman system comes from a time when Sony combined high-quality mobile Video8 technology with a separate TV tuner/timer. The GV-U5E could be used as a compact Video8 recorder or playback device and offers, among other features, Hi-Fi stereo and various audio/video connectors. In combination with the TGV-1B unit, it formed a remarkably compact video/TV system for its era. Particularly interesting is the comprehensive scope of delivery with the large wired Sony RM-95 Remote Commander remote control, an additional Sony Card Remote, numerous connection cables, and the original user manuals. Condition and function The system is in overall nice and well-maintained visual condition for its age. Signs of use are present and documented in the photos. A basic functional test has been performed: The unit can be switched on via the RM-95 remote control. The cassette mechanism opens and closes properly. A Video8 cassette is accepted and can be played. The indicators on the unit and the remote also respond. A further check of picture and sound playback as well as all inputs and outputs, recording, tuner, timer and other functions could not be carried out, as I do not have the additional hardware or an appropriate playback/display device required for that. Therefore, no full functional warranty for all functions of the system can be given. The described test scope is limited to the functions mentioned above. Included in delivery The offer includes: * Sony GV-U5E PAL Video8 Hi-Fi Stereo Video Cassette Recorder * Sony TGV-1B PAL/SECAM Tuner/Timer Unit * Sony RM-95 Remote Commander * Sony Card Remote Commander * Power supply as shown * Video8 cassette * extensive assortment of various audio/video and connection cables * User manual Sony GV-U5E * User manual Sony TGV-1E/TGV-1B * User manual Sony RM-95 * other shown documents and accessories The Nikon AC-100 serves in this set as the power supply. The exact scope of delivery and the optical condition can be seen in the pictures. The complete set shown is what is sold. Especially interesting for collectors Because of the combination of GV-U5E, TGV-1B, RM-95, Card Remote, manuals and extensive accessories, this is not just a single Video8 recorder, but an unusually comprehensively preserved Sony Video-Walkman Compo system. Today’s commonly missing system components, remotes and documents make this set particularly interesting for Sony collectors, Video8 enthusiasts, and connoisseurs of high-quality Japanese consumer electronics from the early 1990s. Due to its age and the not fully verifiable functionality, the system is offered explicitly as described in the partial test. Please regard the photos as part of the item description.
