Slasky - OUT OF TIME No. 02

OUT OF TIME SIRIES The past is not immobile. You just have to change the way we look at it. Slasky returns to break down the barriers of time with a new series that puts art history in dialogue with the visual codes of the present. Images and languages of traditional painting are traversed by geometric patterns, urban signs, graffiti, and graphic interventions. Elements belonging to different eras and worlds meet on the same surface, creating a tension that changes the way we read the image without erasing its identity. This is where this new research is born: take something we know, intervene on it, and compel ourselves to look at it again. Slasky does not seek to render ancient painting contemporary. He leaves it intact in its strength and intervenes exactly at the point where that strength meets something unexpected. The result is an unstable balance between the solemnity of tradition and the freedom of contemporary language. Not a peaceful encounter between epochs, but a collision. Because the history of art is not something we simply have behind us. It is still living matter. And just one different gaze is enough to bring it back into the present.
