All auctions / Furniture, Design & Mirrors / Six-drawer walnut refectory table. Spanish School. Late 16th – early

Descriptio Carved walnut wood. Dimensions: 67 x 98 x 74 cm. Transitional refectory table between the late 16th and early 17th centuries, with six drawers in the front decorated with geometric carvings and plant motifs. The wide tabletop and reinforced structure responded to the needs of collective use in convents and monasteries, where this type of furniture was essential. The solidity of its profile-cut legs, joined by jambs, reinforces its functionality. Its sober yet expressive carving places this table as a paradigmatic example of Castilian convent furniture on the threshold between the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
