Silvered obsidian & pyrite - Orthodox rosary – Christ

Silver Obsidian & Pyrite - Orthodox Rosary – Christ, King of Glory – Light in the Darkness This rosary with Orthodox Christian inspiration stands out for the elegance of its dark stones, paired with the warm gleam of golden elements and the rich symbolism of its crucifix. It is composed of 81 black and silver obsidian beads, carefully polished, offered in different shapes and sizes: round beads, generous spheres, and flattened pebbles. The black obsidian reveals a deep, intense hue, with a smooth, shiny surface, while the silver obsidian shows subtle gray-silver metallic reflections, sometimes slightly golden, appearing under the effects of light. The whole is adorned with 14 golden pyrite beads, with irregular surfaces and metallic nuances, accompanied by finely crafted golden elements and polished black pebbles. These combinations add depth and a refined contrast to the composition. Larger spherical beads punctuate the rosary harmoniously, underscoring its imposing and singular character. At the center of this composition sits a golden Orthodox crucifix, finely worked in relief, inspired by Byzantine and Slavic religious iconography. In Latin form, with straight contours and thick borders, it presents a depiction of the crucified Christ, arms outstretched, the head surrounded by a halo and the body delicately sculpted. The back of the cross is enriched with raised, chiselled-looking decorations, evoking architectural ornaments and traditional religious motifs. Several inscriptions in Cyrillic script complete this sacred depiction: ІС ХС : abbreviation of the name of Jesus Christ. Царь Славы : “King of Glory,” a title given to Christ in the Orthodox tradition. This representation recalls the spiritual dimension of the Crucifixion, but also Christ’s victory over death and the promise of the Resurrection. In the Orthodox Christian tradition, the crucifix is a fundamental symbol of faith, redemption, and hope. It evokes the sacrifice of Christ, divine love, and the spiritual light that triumphs over darkness.
