Title: Antique Peranakan Belt with a Large "Pending" Belt Buckle – Straits-Chinese Silver Jewelry from Around 1900 (158 g) Description: For sale is a beautiful, complete set consisting of an antique silver link belt and a matching, magnificent belt buckle. It is a classic example of traditional Peranakan (Straits-Chinese) silver jewelry from the era around the turn of the century (ca. 1890–1920). Both the buckle and the individual belt links showcase masterful, detailed craftsmanship. The surfaces are artfully decorated in repoussé and chasing techniques with dense floral motifs (peony decor), which in Asian culture traditionally symbolize prosperity, good fortune, and a blessed marriage.
