"Que ma joie demeure", Jean Giono, Grasset, 1935 First edition with inscription from the author and full leather binding. This copy: Alfa Navarre No. 535 / 1000, original 1935 edition (note "ACHEVE D'IMPRIMER LE QUINZE AVRIL MIL NEUF CENT TRENTE-CINQ") with a rare inscription by Jean Giono "to Dr. Jean M. Bezel / Cordially. / An essay / Lalley août. 49.", in a beautiful full leather binding. This is the original 1935 edition, in excellent condition. This copy belonged to Dr. Jean M. Bezel, who was close to Jean Giono, and owned his complete works, sometimes inscribed (Giono was rather sparing with his dedications), as is the case with this copy. Volume in 12° (190 x 125 mm with its binding), 493 pages, bound, with printed covers preserved. Beautiful blue leather binding with marbled boards, five raised spine bands and gilt lettering. Interior fresh, no foxing, stains, tears or writing (except for the dedication), pages very white. Minor micro-scratches at the top corners of the spine. Overall excellent condition. The photos are part of the description. This novel is an ode to the happiness of the land and the beauty of the wild nature. It is set in a small agricultural hamlet on the Grémone plateau in Haute-Provence, at the beginning of the 20th century. Some consider it Giono’s true masterpiece. Careful packaging and shipment."
