All auctions / Furniture, Design & Mirrors / Side table - Wood - Revolving table

The piece of furniture is a swiveling side table with two leaves (a revolving table or etagère). The design is strongly inspired by the classic English revolving bookcases of that period. The piece is made of high-gloss lacquered mahogany, finished with refined turned support columns (colonnettes) and a subtle brass beading along the edges of the square leaves. The whole rests on a four-legged central foot (a saber-legged base) allowing the leaves to rotate smoothly. The piece dates from the early 20th century (circa 1900–1920) and is made in the Edwardian style. Sometimes this specific design in the furniture trade is also attributed to or associated with the vintage style of the Italian designer Aldo Tura (1950s mid-century reissues.)
